If you haven’t got out to Mission Ridge for some skiing or snowboarding this season, your days to do so are numbered.
It’s the last open week for the ski hill, located outside Fort Qu’Appelle, Sask.
“It’s remarkable what we go through in a season as far as getting the snow made, maintaining it,” Mission Ridge’s Anders Svenson said.
“It seems like it’s never going to end in January and then when March rolls around, you’re going, ‘Holy moly, we’re just about done.’”
Svenson said while the hill had its last night skiing Friday night, the last day to ski or snowboard is March 26.
“We’ve got one more week for the season and snow’s holding up real well so far so we’ve still got about a 36 inch base on the hill so we shouldn’t have any issues with coverage,” he said, adding there were “perfect spring conditions” on the hill this past weekend.
For the last week in operation for the season, it’s business as usual for Mission Ridge, with instructors still on hand to help newbies.
“If you haven’t made it out yet this season, certainly do so,” Svenson said. “If you’ve never been out, it’s the perfect time to do so because the kids aren’t going to get cold, you’re going to have a nice day, get a sun tan.”
