Final weekend of spring skiing at Mission Ridge

With spring’s arrival in Saskatchewan, winter activities are coming to an end.

The last day of operation for Mission Ridge Winter Park is Sunday.

Anders Svenson, director of the park’s snow school, said if people are worried about a lack of powder, they shouldn’t be.

“There’s not a patch of grass or dirt showing anywhere,” Svenson said. “You’re going to have probably some of the best skiing of the year.”

All 14 runs will be open and there is still 76 centimetres, or 30 inches, of snow on the hill.

Svenson said they always try to remain open until the last weekend in March and by this time last year, they had already been closed for two weeks.

“Everybody enjoys that spring skiing because you’re out there in a sweater, there’s tonnes of snow and it’s a blast.”

He said it’s the perfect chance to get out one last time locally, and a good time to brush up on skiing if people have a trip planned to the mountains this summer.

Mission Ridge is located in the Fort Qu’Appelle valley, around 75 kilometres northeast of Regina.
