A crash near Melfort has claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy, according to his relatives.
Melfort RCMP responded Tuesday afternoon to a serious two-vehicle collision at 44 Trail and Melinda Road, a grid road intersection south of the city.
A family member told 650 CKOM the boy was killed when his pickup truck collided head-on with a semi.
He was reportedly a Grade 12 student at Melfort Unit and Comprehensive Collegiate and was on his way home when the collision occurred.
The area around the scene was blocked for several hours while RCMP investigated the cause.
