Three men have been charged after allegedly holding another man against his will in Regina back in February.
Regina police said they learned of the incident, which allegedly took place around Feb. 24, on April 2.
Police said three men, all from Regina, held a 22-year-old against his will for several days. They were reportedly armed with a gun and bats and the victim said he felt he would be killed if he tried to leave.
According to police, the victim was allowed to leave after paying off a debt to one of the suspects. Police believe the victim and suspects knew each other.
An investigation led police to identify and locate the three suspects. One was arrested on April 6 without incident, on the 1300 block of Garnet Street, according to police. Police added that officers seized two sawed-off rifles – one of which was loaded – as well as some ammunition, methamphetamine, marijuana, scales and cash.
The two other suspects were arrested a day later. One also faces weapons and drug-related charges.
Jason Lee Bird, 29, was charged with 13 charges, including forcible confinement, possession for the purpose of trafficking and several weapons-related charges. He appeared in court on April 7.
Twenty-seven-year-old Joshua Lewis Daniels – who also goes by Joshua Lewis Beaudry – and 31-year-old Dexter Curtis Miller both face charges of forcible confinement. Daniels has also been charged with a breach of undertaking. Both were scheduled to appear in court on April 10.
