The NHL Playoffs are here and, just like cheering for Sergio Garcia at the Masters, I’m cheering for Alexander Ovechkin to win a championship nobody believes he can win with the Washington Capitals.
For the second straight year, they are the best team in the NHL entering the playoffs.
They have the best goalie in the game as Braden Holtby has a fantastic 1.7 goals against in the post-season the last two seasons, and at one point that will be enough to get the Washington Capitals deep into the post season.
This is the year.
Plus, Barry Trotz winning as a head coach would be an equally good story – the former Regina Pat toiled with Nashville, who never spent to win.
There are a lot of connections between Saskatchewan and the Capitals as well, many in their scouting staffs in the junior and pro ranks plus a plethora of prospects and of course: Braden Holtby.
So with that, Go Caps Go.
