Police discharged a CEW and a man was taken into custody after officers responded to a domestic-related call in Regina Thursday.
Police said officers received a call around 3:17 p.m. and were dispatched to a home on the 600 block of Wascana Street.
Police said when officers arrived on scene they learned a 29-year-old man had allegedly assaulted a woman. Police added the man barricaded himself in a room and was telling officers he was going to harm himself with a knife.
After a period of time, the door to the room was breached as officers didn’t know if the man was harming himself.
Police said the suspect was not cooperating, acting resistant and assaultive towards police.
An officer discharged a CEW and the man was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was then transported to hospital where he was assessed, released and taken to police detention and charged.
Barry Apooch is charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and mischief under $5000.
Apooch was released and is expected to make a court appearance on April 27.
