Morning crash in Regina sends 83-year-old man to hospital

Regina police are investigating a collision between an SUV and a mobility scooter which sent an elderly man to hospital.

Police responded to an incident at the intersection of 11th Avenue and Smith Street around 9:11 a.m. Police had received a report of a collision between an SUV and a medical scooter.

A preliminary investigation indicated the SUV was heading west on 11th Avenue and turned south onto Smith Street. The scooter, being operated by an 83-year-old man, was in the south crosswalk, crossing Smith Street from west to east.

The man was sent to hospital for treatment of minor injuries and will remain there for observation and assessment.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Investigators continued to conduct interviews and gather information.

Police said it is unknown at this time what charges, if any, will be laid.
