Saskatchewan’s two biggest centres are ready to get behind their own teams this weekend.
A sold-out Brandt Centre will be wild as the Pats host Lethbridge in game one of the WHL’s eastern conference final.
There was a time when hockey fans in the Queen City were indifferent to this organization, but with local ownership’s commitment to winning, supporters have been out in full force. There has been a huge investment in the Pats, and fans are now invested in the team.
A sold out SaskTel Centre readies for tomorrow’s Rush/Rock game. Saskatchewan coach Derek Keenan will become the NLL’s winningest coach with a win. Fans in and around the Bridge City realize that while the team doesn’t have a long history in Saskatoon, NLL history may be written tomorrow night.
The Stanley Cup playoffs, the Blue Jays and whatever else may be on TV will take a back seat for the hometown teams for many this weekend.
That’s a good thing.
