Terry Bulych had visited on-air with us so much, he had become part of the Green Zone family.
Terry was the proud, approachable president of the Saskatchewan Roughriders Alumni Association, until he died Sunday, weakened by cancer and hospitalized with pneumonia. Some of our alumni friends, particularly Belton Johnson and Jim Hopson, let us know about Terry’s passing. They were also shocked and saddened.
Terry was a Regina guy for most of his 65 years, except when he played junior college in Washington and college football at Weber State.
A running back and punter, Terry began a three-year career with the Roughriders in 1973. It was his bad – or good – fortune to play at the same time as Hall of Fame fullback George Reed, so Bulych predictably didn’t get much playing time.
He stayed in Regina after retiring, became a businessman and worked with the Alumni Association to make other Riders, after they retired and stayed here, feel like everyone in this province was part of their family.
