Distracted driving is a problem that only seems to be getting worse in Saskatchewan.
According to SGI, it’s the leading cause of crashes, and ranks second in deadly crashes behind only drunk driving. A ticket for not paying attention to the road will run drivers $280.
Last month, a total of 523 tickets were handed out across Saskatchewan for distracted driving.
Of those, 441 were cell phone related. SGI said that’s the highest number of tickets since their monthly traffic safety spotlights started in 2014.
In today’s ‘Martel on the Move’ 980 CJME’s Kevin Martel is finding out how common distracted driving really is.
