Jamie Nye: Oilers youth will win out over Ducks

The second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs has some amazingly even matchups.

You have the first and second-ranked divisional rivals with the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks, as well as the Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Elsewhere, you have the Rangers and Senators, who were separated by four points, and the Predators and Blues separated by five.

You could argue it’s a coin toss for all four series in round two.

As much as I’m cheering for the Saskatchewan connections in Washington to win a cup, I’ll have to say watching the Penguins win with relative ease through the Columbus Blue Jackets has them at the top of the power rankings going into round two.

The Senators look like they have the depth to produce more offence than the Canadiens were against the Rangers.

I’m also taking youth over experience with the Oilers and Ducks and the Predators just swept Chicago. Surely they can beat the St. Louis Blue in a seven-game series.

But either way, bring on round two. It looks like it’ll be just as good as the prior round.
