The Red Wings will host the Kindersley Klippers in Assiniboia on Friday.
It has stood in Regina since 1929, but after a fire destroyed most of the Travellers Building in March, it could mark the end of the historic landmark.
The city’s planning commission is meeting Wednesday and one of the topics it will be discussing is removing the heritage designation of the site.
“It’s a tragedy that it was actually destroyed by fire and we had to knock it down for safety reasons,” Regina Mayor Michael Fougere told the 980 CJME Morning Show. “It certainly is a part of the character of downtown but obviously it’s time to move on.”
Most of the building has already been torn down and by removing the designation, the city can continue the demolition and clear the site out.
