Jamie Nye: McDavid should beat out Crosby for Hart Trophy

The finalists for the NHL’s Hart Trophy were announced and all three have an exceptional story to make a case for winning the league’s MVP award.

Edmonton Oilers had the biggest turnaround from last season and when you consider Connor McDavid was the only player to score more than 100 points, you can see how the term ‘player deemed the most valuable to their team’ applies to the Oilers captain.

Columbus had the second best turnaround and the second fewest goals scored against this season. So is Sergei Bobrovsky in the category most valuable to his team? Absolutely, though not sure how good of a chance when he’s up against McDavid and Sidney Crosby.

Crosby scored the most goals in the league and is still the best player in the game but does that equate to the most valuable to his team? With players like Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel, the Penguins still have fire power without Crosby.

All things considered, it’s going to be a surprise if McDavid doesn’t win his first of what will likely be multiple Hart Trophies.
