Fire crews battled a huge blaze for most of the night at the old General Motors plant on Winnipeg Street in Regina.
The fire began Tuesday night when Regina fire received a call around 9:40 p.m.
The blaze soon engulfed the back of the building located on Winnipeg Street between 8th Avenue and 6th Avenue – that stretch of Winnipeg Street was blocked off until about 7 a.m.
Police alerted people who were at The Grid, a virtual reality arcade nearby, about the fire and evacuated the building.
SaskPower was also called to scene to shut off electricity in the area.
People in the area said they could hear loud pops.
Kelly Goff is the owner of Beachcombers, a hot tub store nearby, and said she was alerted to the fire through a Facebook post. She quickly rushed down to ensure her own shop was safe from the blaze.
The old car plant was opened in Regina in 1927.
