Regina police had a home in the Lakeview neighbourhood surrounded as part of an investigation into a recent assault.
Officers could be seen on the 3000 block of Garnet Street around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.
At 8:45 p.m., a high-risk search warrant was executed that involved patrol officers, canine, crisis negotiators and SWAT.
Earlier in the day, police acknowledged that a suspect could have been in the home. A number of people exited the house, however, police maintained a safety perimeter until everyone exited the home.
There are two elementary schools in the area. Staff and school boards were notified of what was happening. Police said there shouldn’t be any disruptions for schools in the area or students walking to school Thursday morning.
