There are many aspects of life that can provide teachable moments.
Some of those moments come to us from the world of sports.
Pierre-Edouard Bellemare from the Philadelphia Flyers gave us one such moment on the heels of France’s 5-1 win over Finland at the IIHF World Men’s Hockey Championship in Paris.
Bellemare, playing for France, had a goal and an assist in the upset win over the Finns.
There was no doubt France was led by goaltender Florian Hardy, who made 42 saves for the victory.
Bellemare was named player of the game for the French team. He skated to where the award was to be given out, and told organizers he wanted Hardy to receive the award. The organizers obliged, and Hardy was named player of the game.
It was an unselfish act that will not only live on in French hockey history, but go down as one of those teachable moments that we can all learn from.
