The Meewasin Valley Authority has announced a new interim CEO.
Doug Porteous was named to the position Thursday, after working as the MVA community development manager since 1999. Prior to that, Porteous taught in Saskatoon schools for 30 years – serving 23 of those as a principal.
“Doug is highly regarded in the community and recognized as a passionate and respected advocate for Meewasin,” said Colin Tennent, chair of the Meewasin board of directors, in a news release Thursday.
“Doug has been charged with developing a plan for predictable long-term sustainable funding. It will be important for all to challenge status quo while identifying, promoting and protecting the essence of Meewasin.”
Porteous was named interim CEO after the MVA parted ways earlier this month with Lloyd Isaak, who led the organization over the last four years.
The move comes weeks after the MVA announced extensive cuts to programming in response to a $409,000 funding slash by the province in the 2017 budget.
