The Green Zone: Riders' Jeremy O'Day preparing for 2025

Racquetball is my life for this entire week. I’ll miss the Green Zone, but a guy’s gotta do something other than watch sports, write about sports or talk about sports.
More than 100 of us are playing in the 2017 Canadian racquetball championships in Brossard, just south of Montreal. Even though racquetball is no longer a tremendously popular pastime in Canada, as it was in the 1970s and 1980s, every province is represented.
Defending champions Mike Green and Frederique Lambert are in attendance, but I won’t be playing against them in singles or doubles. They’re a few levels above me. I get to watch them play, maybe learn something and high-five them after a victory.
I do have something in common with Mike and Fred – I’m a Canadian champion. My partners carried me to a B-event doubles championship each of the last two years. Thanks, Sue. Thanks, Dave.
This year I’m shooting for my version of a grand slam: A singles crown. I’ll know by Saturday … if I don’t sprain an ankle, wrench a shoulder or tear an Achilles tendon.
