The hockey world is buzzing about the western conference’s eighth seed. Casual hockey fans knew that Mike Fisher is the captain and know the Predators were involved in the biggest trade of the off season – acquiring P.K. Subban from Montreal for Shea Weber. That’s about it.
Now North American hockey fans are learning so much more. Goaltender Pekka Rinne is unbeatable when he is in a zone, and Nashville can threaten to score from their blue line.
It’s also ironic that one of the story lines coming out of Ottawa is about vacant seats at the Canadian Tire Centre, and the story out of Nashville is how the Predators have taken Tennessee by storm.
You don’t hear many people around here say “I’m a Predators fan.” That may change soon.
