Just so everyone is clear, I have a very specific code for my likes and dislikes in sports.
Many were questioning my logic of celebrating the NFL easing restrictions on touchdown celebrations, while in the same show poo-pooing the notion of the wave.
So here is my code.
Players should celebrate big plays, unless down by a considerable margin.
Jose Bautista, I’m looking at you. No bat flips down 8-3 late in the game.
Players should also celebrate major successes. Please, Ottawa or Pittsburgh, pick up the conference trophy. Nashville didn’t and they should have.
It may be the only trophy they win for a while.
Fans should have as much fun at a sporting event as possible, without being belligerent.
Except for the wave.
The wave is old, tired and you’re distracting fans trying to actually watch the game.
Oh and if you have tickets at a hockey game, don’t stand up and turn your back to the play to wave at the camera. That drives me nuts and I hope you miss a goal being scored.
There. I hope I cleared that up.
