As cleanup begins after Wednesday’s strong winds, one woman is lucky to be alive.
Deanna Wolf was driving through Lumsden, a community 33 kilometres north of Regina, when a chunk of tree fell onto her vehicle.
“I just remember suddenly then being crushed in my car and obviously freaking out because I had no idea what was going on,” Wolf told the 980 CJME Morning Show.
The Craven resident said she remembers paramedics and hearing her parents’ voices, but said the rest is a blur.
Wolf had no idea the extent of what happened until she saw photos of the tree on her car.
“It was huge, I don’t even know how I’m alive right now, it’s pretty crazy.”
She later found out a huge gust of wind caused the tree to topple over onto her car.
She said she suffered a nasty bump on her head, possibly from the sunroof crushing down on top of her.
Other than some soreness and bruises, Wolf said she’s doing OK.
“It’s actually amazing the minimal injuries that I have.”
Wolf said she was home from hospital and is on the road to recovery.
“It still kind of feels pretty surreal to me, I don’t know that it’s fully sunk into me yet.”
