A 30-year old inmate at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary has died while in custody.
Correctional Service Canada said Curtis Robert Cozart was pronounced dead at roughly 11 p.m. Wednesday after emergency services were called to the facility.
Spokesperson Jeff Campbell said foul play is not suspected but in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the death.
Cozart had been serving a 2 year, 4-month sentence since October 2016 for a number of charges including assault with a weapon and theft under $5,000.
