More adult players are now investing in the protective equipment.
The new Mosaic Stadium was the first step in helping revitalize the downtown area — now phase two is beginning to pick up steam.
The Railyard Renewal Project will take 17.5 acres of land on Dewdney Avenue between Albert Street and Broad Street and turn it into a mixed-use area.
The plan will create new high-rise housing and commercial areas.
Mark Reid with Urban Strategies, the firm hired by the City of Regina to handle the design of the area, said public consultation revealed people want to see a few key features.
“People were really interested in a park as a central amenity, a central feature, a market building and some community meeting room,” Reid said.
Another round of public consultation is taking place Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Queensbury Convention Centre. The recommended concept will be presented to the public.
“We want to get people’s input and feedback on that concept before we finalize it and push it forward to council.”
The area will be predominately residential but will be close to the downtown area and the Cornwall shopping centre.
