Jamie Nye: The sad fall of Tiger Woods

The latest in the Tiger Woods drama can be described by one word: sad.

The police in Florida released the three-hour arrest video and many are watching it to see just how out of it he was.

The answer was very out of it.

Tiger Woods was an inspiration. He was a man of Asian and African origin dominating the extremely white game of golf.

The young phenom was breaking records and chasing Jack Nicklaus. Woods single-handedly grew the game with ratings, sponsorships and participation.

Golf courses started “Tiger proofing” because his game was so far superior and tried to even the field.

He won his 14th major in 2008. There was seemingly no doubt he’d break Nicklaus’ record.

Then came the collapse. A very public divorce with strippers, porn stars and others claiming to be his mistresses. Sponsors bailed on him as fast as they used him to make money.

The back injuries piled up and now the dash video of police getting a staggering, half asleep Tiger Woods trying to recite the alphabet and stumbling along a white line. Allegedly due to a cocktail of medication.

Yes, it’s not the most extreme case of a fall from grace but it doesn’t make it any less sad.
