What’s the hottest spot in North America right now?
Inside Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, where the Predators play host tonight to the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup final. The temperature in Tennessee has actually been cooler lately than Saskatchewan’s heat wave, but nobody seems as feverish as the hockey fans in Smashville.
The Predators routinely get country stars like Martina McBride to sing pre-game anthems; 20,000 fans taunt the visitors by yelling “Sucks” after each player is introduced; and Pens goalie Matt Murray must have heard them yelling “It’s all your fault” after each goal in Nashville’s 5-1 victory. And a catfish gets chucked onto the ice after every Preds tally.
Outside the arena, another 40,000 people are apparently partying on the street and in nearby honky-tonks. It’s crazier inside the building, but re-sold tickets on StubHub are selling for $935 to $4,400. That’s hot!
