I’m not the only conspiracy theorist following the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Moments after quarterback Vince Young reportedly pulled a hamstring during a training-camp workout, the conspiracy theorists began telling the Green Zone that he wasn’t really hurt. He was just faking it, so the Riders can place him on the six-game injury list. Or they can cut him. Both theories float because Young, a former NFLer, hasn’t yet grasped the intricacies of Canadian football.
Before you start screaming at me: I’m not saying Young isn’t hurt. Some teams might try such a trick, and the Riders aren’t above playing loose with the rules, but it doesn’t make sense for Young to have a staged injury right now. He was expected to play lots in Saturday’s preseason game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Young could use the work. If he played Saturday with only modest success and then got hurt, maybe the conspiracy theorists would have a case.
