Maybe the Golden State Warriors won’t even get invited to the White House.
Although President Donald Trump has changed quite a few traditions since being elected, he did meet with the New England Patriots and Clemson Tigers after their football championships. But immediately after Golden State defeated Cleveland in the NBA Finals, reports surfaced that the Warriors unanimously decided against going to the White House.
Not true, the Warriors said. No decision has yet been made.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr expressed displeasure after Trump became the 45th U.S. president and a few players have mused about doing the same as Patriots quarterback Tom Brady: duck a meeting with a president whose disapproval rating is 60 per cent, is awash in controversy and might get impeached.
The Warriors have a stacked squad with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant, so they could win the next three championships. Their reign could outlast Trump’s.
