Recent weather in Regina might not be ideal for taking a dip, but when the sky clears and the sun beats down, some of Regina’s outdoor pools will be waiting for swimmers.
Massey Pool, Wascana Pool and Dewdney Pool opened Thursday. Their hours are as follows:
- Massey Pool: Daily, Noon – 8 p.m. (admission free from 7 – 8 p.m.)
- Wascana Pool: Daily, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. (admission free from 7 – 8 p.m.)
- Dewdney Pool: June 15 – 27, weekdays 4 – 8 p.m., weekends noon – 8 p.m., June 28 onwards, daily, noon – 8 p.m. (free admission during all operating hours)
A couple of pools had their opening delayed this season according to the city. The Regent and Maple Leaf pools will not open along with the others. The Regent is said to have unforeseen repair work while the Maple Leaf has unforeseen facility issues.
At Regent pool, a mechanical failure occurred during the system startup in the spring. If repairs are successful, the cost will be minimal, but the city said if the mechanical component needs to be replaced, it could cost upwards of $7,000.
The City wouldn’t comment on what repairs are happening at Maple Leaf pool because crews are still investigating and determining the scope of the repairs.
There is no date as to when the Regent and Maple Leaf pools might open to the public.
