No need for people to bring roasting sticks or s’more supplies camping in southwest Saskatchewan this weekend.
Many areas have issued a fire ban due to ongoing hot, dry weather, compounded by a lack of precipitation in July.
The City of Moose Jaw issued a fire ban Thursday, barring the use of fire pits, outdoor fire places or any form of open flame devices. That ban is in effect until further notice.
Swift Current Online compiled a list of fire bans in the southwest part of the province.
Fire bans are in effect in the following rural municipalities:
- Swift Current
- Gull Lake
- Lac Pelletier
- Riverside
- Coulee
- Whiska Creek
- Webb
- Auvergne
- Excelsior
- Frontier
- Arlington
- Lone Tree
- White Valley
- Morse
- Lawtonia
- Waldeck
Fire bans are also in effect in the villages of Waldeck and Pennant, the town of Eastend, Lac Pelletier Regional Park and Cabri Regional Park.
The R.M. that includes Assiniboia issued a fire ban last week due to the same weather conditions. That ban is in effect until Aug. 18.
There were no provincial fire bans in place as of Friday morning.
