One of the more famous ice cream stops in Regina in Milky Way. The store has been serving up treats for 61 years in the city.
Ryan Boldt is the current owner and manager of the ice cream shop. His family bought Milky Way back in 1981.
While the weather has been good, it’s almost getting to be too much for people to justify going out to get an ice cream cone.
“It’s almost a little bit too hot to stand in line at certain times of the day, but at night it’s sure good to come and cool down.”
Boldt said going to Milky Way for an ice cream has become a generational thing for some families.
“I’ve had people I’ve talked to that are 90 years old, they talk about bringing their kids and then their kids bring their kids,” Boldt said. “It’s a great feeling being a cornerstone in Regina.”
He said it’s too early to tell if they are busier than last year, he says they are keeping pace with years past.
“Everything’s been going great.”
And what are the top flavours in Regina?
Boldt said it’s chocolate-vanilla twist soft-serve and cotton candy has taken the top spot for hard ice cream in 2017.
