Two licensed practical nurses (LPN) who work at the Pasqua Hospital have been suspended for four months because of professional misconduct.
At a disciplinary hearing held July 7, Stefanie Ward and Jennifer Sanders each entered guilty pleas after acknowledging their conduct breached the Licensed Practical Nurses Act.
On April 28, Sanders invited someone who wasn’t a patient into a private room and administered an IV. Ward put the medication into it.
Documents on the LPN website show no doctor gave the order for this to be done and it was outside the scope of an LPN.
The two did not have the consent of the Pasqua Hospital or the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region to use medical supplies on someone not admitted as a patient.
The suspension begins on Sept. 1, 2017.
During the four months, Ward and Sanders must complete an online LPN code of ethics learning module and pay the cost of the hearing.
