Duron Carter, finally, did what he was supposed to do.
Carter caught two touchdown passes – including one spectacular, one-handed, backhanded snag worthy of all-time CFL highlight packages – in the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ 38-27 victory Saturday over the Toronto Argonauts.
Carter hadn’t done much since joining the Roughriders this season. But his performance sparked great showings from teammates like Kevin Glenn, Willie Jefferson, Bakari Grant, Cam Marshall, Caleb Holley and Tobi Antigha. The Riders also recovered their own short kickoff and exploited the Argos’ mistakes.
The Riders were desperate for a victory. They have to play with desperation if they’re going to make the playoffs. They beat a tired opponent, but their playoff chances look much better with a 2-3 record than if they were 1-4.
