I was always told ‘you can’t fix stupid.’
Well, the CFL is giving us hope that you can because stupid is just what the CFL review system was turning into.
Coaches were no longer trying to change egregious officiating errors in review. They were trying to change minimal infractions that could only be deciphered in super slow motion.
That was not the original intent and it was just plain stupid.
New commissioner Randy Ambrosie was hired three weeks ago and came into the job with the preconceived opinion the review system had to change and rather than just wait it out until the off-season, a change is happening now because enough was enough.
Ambrosie told the Green Zone he was at the Edmonton-B.C. game when challenges took over the game in the fourth quarter and the next day he wasn’t talking about the great game but all anybody wanted to discuss was the review system.
That is the last thing the CFL should be talking about the day after a matchup for first place in the West Division.
Thank goodness Ambrosie got the support of the board of governors and is getting the support from head coaches around the league as well.
It was that obvious that you could fix stupid.
