It’s a tell-tale sign summer is coming to a close: the Queen City Ex has come and gone for another year.
Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) has released this year’s gate count.
It showed more than 202,796 coming through the gates, down from 208,267 in 2016.
REAL still called it strong attendance.
“This week started off with some rainy weather and the threat of a few storms, but that didn’t seem to stop our fairgoers from coming out to experience the fun,” said Chelsea Galloway, REAL entertainment and events manager. “The warm and sunny weather decided to stay for the rest of the week, and we were really pleased to see such a strong attendance throughout the whole event.”
On Sunday, the Mosaic Flip for Hunger pancake breakfast brought in 4,000 people, who got free admission for bringing in a food item or monetary donation for the Regina Food Bank. REAL said a record-breaking 23,980 pounds of food was brought it, bringing the seven-year total to 97,300 pounds.
Next year’s Queen City Ex takes place from Aug. 1 to Aug. 5.
