Vehicle thieves are targeting Ford trucks the most, according to Regina police.
A statement released Thursday said Ford F-series trucks — F-150s, F-250s and F-350s — represented 16 per cent of all stolen vehicles in the city over the past three months. During the first week of August, 41 per cent of the stolen vehicles were Ford F-series trucks.
The data was collected from May 9 to Aug. 8.
Police said in many cases, keys were left in the unlocked vehicle.
Officers are advising vehicle owners to lock their vehicles and remove valuables to deter thieves.
Other deterrents include parking in a well-lit driveway or locked garage.
Police said while some thieves could overcome security precautions, most would choose an easier target.
They also reminded citizens to report any suspicious activity to Regina police.
Editors note: Information was added about the data collected in the first week of August.
