Don Narcisse is no stranger to hurricanes.
The Riders great was born in Port Arthur, Texas, and has a home and family in Houston, where Hurricane Harvey continues to wreak havoc.
“It’s unreal, I’ve been through a few hurricanes and stuff but I was talking to my wife this morning and she was like, ‘This is unreal, it’s been raining all day.’”
He said she sent him photos of their home, with water surrounding it. He said their home has still managed to remain unaffected.
“It’s unbelievable just to be seeing some of the pictures and looking on CNN and seeing what things is going on and then calling my family, it’s like man, it’s crazy.”
He said he isn’t too worried about his family at this point because they’ve dealt with hurricanes before.
“I had one that hit my house a few years ago and we had like $100,000 worth of damage and my wife was like, ‘This one’s here worser’ cause it’s going to rain for a whole week, 100 per cent.’”
He said people are stuck in their homes and could be in real trouble if the electricity gets cut off.
“That’s when you start having real problems where you can’t keep your food together and things start happening and you just carry on.”
He said the people in Houston are in a really bad situation right now.
“If you haven’t been in it, you wouldn’t know.”
