A portion of southern Saskatchewan is under a severe thunderstorm watch as a low-pressure system moves eastward across the area.
There is also a severe thunderstorm warning for areas around Yorkton, Melville and Esterhazy.
The watch is in effect for areas around Carlyle, Oxbow, Carnduff, Bienfait, Stoughton, Estevan, Weyburn, Radville, Milestone, Kamsack, Canora, Preeceville, Moosomin, Grenfell, Kipling and Wawota.
A warning means severe weather is occurring and can bring with it heavy rain, damaging winds, hail and intense lightning. People should be ready to take shelter.
A watch means conditions are favourable for the development of a severe thunderstorm which could produce damaging winds, large hail, lightning and heavy rain.
Large hail can cause damage to property and vehicles and can also cause serious injury. Strong wind gusts can damage buildings, knock down trees and can even blow large vehicles off the road
