Five games ago, the Riders were 2-3 and were about to face five games against West Division opponents.
I dared ask the question on the Green Zone how many wins the Riders will get in these five games.
To say Rider Nation is much more confident now than they were then is an understatement. One or two wins was the most popular answer with nearly 60 percent. Well, the answer was three. The Riders’ wins over B.C., Edmonton and Winnipeg went a long way to put the Riders back in the conversation for the playoffs.
Unlike the last few seasons, the Roughriders control their own destiny in their final eight games. Right now, we don’t have to break down who the Riders need to beat and which divisional teams need to lose to who.
Yes, they are in fifth right now but only a half game back of B.C. with whom the Riders own the tiebreaker.
I imagine if I asked the question on how many of their final eight do they win, many more would take the option they’d win more often than they lose, which is the right answer because I believe, despite Saturday’s loss, we’ll see the Riders in the playoffs.
