Grief counsellors and other support services are now in the classroom that Cameron Mushanski attended.
The six-year-old from Riceton was killed in a dog attack Wednesday evening.
He had just begun Grade One at Milestone School.
“We send our condolences to the family and community members experiencing this tragic loss,” said Ben Grebinski, director of education of the Prairie Valley School Division. “Our focus now is on supporting our students and staff who are grieving this young boy.”
Once the news was confirmed by the RCMP, support staff were sent to the school
“We will keep our people there as long as they are needed,” Grebinski said.
Prairie Valley School Division is offering condolences to his family and confirmed it will provide classroom support for as long as needed.
It isn’t clear how or why Mushanski went into the pen the two Alaskan Malamutes were housed in.
The RCMP is investigating the incident.
His grandmother, Lori Mushanksi, described him as her “little buddy.”
