The WHL is kicking off its season in Regina today and it’s a season that comes with a lot of excitement.
Of course, there is the obvious: the 100th Memorial Cup will be played in Regina with the Pats hosting in their 100th season.
And coming off a run to the WHL Final last year, it’ll be interesting to see if, with a few new faces, they can get back to their championship calibre.
But the Moose Jaw Warriors have reason to be optimistic with some big players returning and they were one of the biggest challengers to the Regina Pats all of last year until a blip in the playoffs.
Swift Current tested the Pats as well in the playoffs and are hoping that turns into improved play in a tough East Division.
Saskatoon is trying to carry a decent preseason and improve by just five points, which is all they missed the playoffs by and the rebuild in Prince Albert continues.
While I won’t leave any predictions here, I will say it’s going to be a great year to be a junior hockey fan in Saskatchewan.
