Moose Jaw police confirm no one was hurt after a commercial neighbourhood in northeast Moose Jaw was shut down early Friday morning due to a man carrying a shotgun.
Police said they got a call about a suicidal man who was barricaded in a vehicle near the intersection of Highland Road at Highway 1. Officers on the scene evacuated the area and established a perimeter while negotiating with the man who said he was armed with a shotgun.
The area was blocked off to traffic for a while but staff at the Wigmore Hospital on Diefenbaker Drive were allowed to walk from their vehicles to work. Highway 1 was also closed between Thatcher Drive and Main Street North.
The man did fire the gun at one point but no one was hurt. He was taken into police custody at 8 a.m.
