An 18-year-old man has died after a car ended up in a slough near Punnichy, southeast of Saskatoon.
RCMP said the call came in at 3:10 a.m. Friday. Officers responded to the scene five kilometres east of Punnichy, along Highway 15.
According to police, a car left the road and entered a slough. Two of three people inside were able to escape.
A 15-year-old boy was found at the scene and airlifted to hospital by STARS with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
An 18-year-old man, believed to be the driver, was found some distance away with only minor injuries.
The third person, an 18-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
All three are from the Punnichy area.
The RCMP’s Underwater Recovery Team, along with a collision reconstructionist, attended the scene.
As of 3 p.m., emergency personnel were still in the area, with traffic restrictions in place.
The investigation is ongoing.
