Terrorism can’t win, it can’t beat football and it can’t defeat Canadians.
That should be our first reaction to the terror attack that occurred Saturday night in Edmonton, just blocks away from an Eskimos-Blue Bombers game.
An ISIS-supporter attacked a police officer and drove a rental truck through a crowded alleyway.
Well, our first reaction should probably be admiring the efforts of first responders and supporting the victims. And that’s how Canada has responded.
But then we should vow to never let terrorism disrupt our lives. Terrorists want to scare us into changing how we live, so we can’t stop going out to our city’s bars and restaurants. We can’t stop going to CFL games, or any other sporting event. We can’t hide.
If we come anywhere near to matching the courage, the determination, of our first responders and the athletes we watch, we’ll be okay.
