Regina police believe a group of pre-teen girls are responsible for a series of fires set on purpose in the Al Ritchie neighbourhood since the start of the year.
A total of 26 garbage bin fires have occurred from January to August 2017 in that neighbourhood, found south of Victoria Avenue just west of Ring Road. Most of the fires were set during the summer months police said, and in the early morning hours between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m.
Police think five girls 12-years-old or younger are responsible.
Three of the girls are charged with arson. The other two are younger than 12 so they cannot be charged. Instead, police said they are being referred to the Firestarters Education Program.
None of the fires resulted in injuries.
