Rush turned an 8-3 fourth quarter deficit into a 9-8 victory in its home opener.
Unless you’re playing blackjack, it’s sometimes fun being wrong.
All of us on the Green Zone — Jamie, Woodsy, Belton and I — were woefully wrong on our Saskatchewan Roughriders predictions.
We all picked the Calgary Stampeders to win their CFL game Friday. I went even further, claiming converted receiver Duron Carter would be a below-average cornerback.
Then Carter’s pick-six sealed Saskatchewan’s 30-7 victory and we opened the call-in show to gloaters.
We knew it was coming, that we would be eating crow on the show and in social media. Someone offered a dinner of barbecued crow, another suggested sriracha would make it edible. All in good fun.
The funniest responses came from bitter fans who believe it’s an affront that the media — while doing their jobs — reported on the tumultuous days preceding the game or logically picked the first-place Stampeders to win.
Particularly on defence, the Riders had a terrific performance. And afterwards, it was figuratively just like playing blackjack again when you want another card and say, “Hit me!”
