Evidently nobody is paying attention. It’s not complicated. Drinking and driving can kill people. So can texting while driving. We keep punishing the offenders. More and more offenders. More fines, more suspensions.
There’s got to be more effective methods.
If every vehicle were equipped with a breath-analysis machine, nobody with an illegal blood-alcohol content could drive their car. It’s worth the extra expense to stop drunk drivers.
Cellphones now have apps that prevent the phone from working while the owner is driving. It’s not yet foolproof, but it’s a start for a society that just can’t stop breaking some very important laws.
