Regina’s first heavy winter snowfall has many whipping out their snowblowers in protest, including George Ritso of the Glencairn neighbourhood.
“It’s too early in the year,” said Ritso. “It’s gonna be a long winter.”
Despite living on a corner lot and having almost double the snow to blow than his neighbours, the 81-year-old said he always has time to help them out.
“I do the neighbour to the north of me. She’s a widow and getting up in age, so she can’t do it,” he said, before starting his 45-year-old route up and down the block.
Ritso said he didn’t have to take out his snowblower last year. However, he predicts this winter will make up for lost times.
