Saskatchewan Roughrider fans are travelling from all over the country to see the team take on Ottawa in the eastern semi-final today.
Lovedeep Chahal, from B.C. and his wife Jana, who’s from Moose Jaw, live in Ottawa and will be at the game.
“I pretty much married into Rider Nation … it’s fantastic,” Lovedeep said. “It’s like it was a part of our vows. I don’t get to take her unless I take the team with her,” he laughed.
The couple has season tickets for the Redblacks so they can watch some CFL action. Lovedeep said they wear red and black to the games, that is until the Riders come to town.
“Then we get to wear our green and sit in our regular seats with our green gear and our flags,” he said. “There’s a Rider Nation presence here in Ottawa for sure.”
The couple really looks forward to that one game a year they get to wear their green and white. But they’re even more excited they get another chance to gear up this year.
“The fact that this is going to be the second game this year that (the Riders are) playing here, it’s really exciting and we’ll have them back here for the Grey Cup as well, so we’re looking forward to watching them three times this year,” Lovedeep said.
He predicts the Riders are going all the way to the Grey Cup.
“It’s going to be a tight game looking at the fact the first game (the Riders) played here this year it was a win by only one point and when the Redblacks were in Regina they won by just the one point,” he said.
The couple were watching the standings closely as the season was drawing to an end. They ultimately had hoped for a Rider Redblacks faceoff at the Grey Cup.
