The government is expected to announce details of an external review of the province’s coroner’s office.
It comes after a jury found the province’s chief forensic pathologist unfairly assessed another doctor who was trying to get a job there.
Morgan said the review will be in regard to both “this case and the overall operation of that office.”
The jury found that Dr. Shaun Ladham and the coroner’s office were either dishonest or acted in bad faith while reviewing Dr. Jeffrey Racette ‘s skills.
Morgan confirms Ladham is still employed.
“The officials within the ministry say they have confidence in the work that’s being done and do not believe that there’s anything that’s been compromised as a result of that,” Morgan said.
Morgan says the review is needed to ensure there is public confidence in the coroner’s office.
There had already been a review of the office following the inquest into the death of Nadine Machiskinic.
As well one staff member in the office has been on long-term leave.
