Regina’s Globe Theatre is bringing the holiday spirit to life with an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
Oliver Becker will take on the classic role of Ebenezer Scrooge.
“I used to see it every Christmas as a young man on TV, it left quite an indelible mark,” Becker said. “It was always something I looked forward to as a kid watching on TV, we had a black and white TV.”
Becker said he has done his research by watching other performances, but he didn’t want to be like the rest of the actors who played Scrooge.
“That was sort of in my mind, do I play that guy – no you can’t, so you just try to take each scene and try to make it believable for you,” he said.
Audiences can catch preview performances this weekend while opening night is officially set for Thursday, Nov. 23.
